The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance Short Review

The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance is a well-written cozy fantasy about an ambitious researcher. The story surrounds the mystery of Mount Vengeance and the Misnich Inn. While the book promises a lot of sleuthing from Ainsworth, the researcher from the Skarrow Library, we do not get a lot of clues until around the 60% mark. The pace picks up at that point and the conflict becomes a more urgent and tangible problem.

I rated it three stars for its succict prose. As a cozy fantasy, it delivered on its atmosphere and the comfort of day to day life at the inn. While the mystery could have been amped up a bit more and allowed us to piece together the history of the inn and its innkeeper through subtle clues, I did enjoy the side quests Ainsworth completed as he tried to fit in with the inn's staff.

This book will be enjoyed by fans of cozy fantasy and, perhaps, even the anime Delicious in Dungeon.
